The 40% Extra 300 Kit is $995.00. All of the plywood is CNC Router cut. The foam tail pieces, ft. hatch, turtle deck, and wings are sheeted foam. The composite wing spar plus all of the sheeting are included. The canopy, landing gear, epoxy glass cowl and wheel pants and a reference size set of plans complete the kit. A hardware package is available for an additional charge or you may use your own. All prices exclude shipping.
We saw the need for a larger Extra 300 with a less complicated construction method and designed a 40% Extra with a CNC router cut self jigging fuse that will build quick, light, and straight. The 40% is zero zero - no dihedral "0" degrees incidence with the fin 1 degree left and 2 degrees right engine thrust and the wing is on the thrust line. The wing loading is 33 oz per sq. ft. The empennage, ft hatch, turtle deck, and wings are sheeted foam. The foam wings are as light as built up wings and have 2797sq.in. We supply a composite spar that goes under the wing sheeting. The rudder servos go in the rear of the fuse sides to eliminate expensive and less precise pull-pull systems and like all of our control surfaces, use shorter linkages for a more positive torque delivered to the control surface.
In 1994 we supplied our 37% Extra 300S model to Quique Somenzini and he won the Tournament of Champions. The smaller airframe was built around the 120cc. class engine. Then Bob designed the 37% 300L. With the more forward canopy it reduced a lot of the pitch coupling and the longer moment arm made a better flying pattern plane and one of the most winning models available as the lower wing location added extra roll coupling. At this time the 37% models were only offered "as in the bones" because of the jig used in the in house construction to keep it straight.
Realizing that they could not keep up with the "in the bones" order demand and the high request of a kit version, we desided to design a building method so our 37% could become a favorite model kit to our customers. It was straight forward using a line on the building table and center knotches in the formers to keep the fuse straight during cross-brace installation. Precise measurements were needed to insure proper placements of the formers to keep the proposed wedge needed for aerodynamic effect. This is where the "tab and slot" has made the new CNC Router cut models totally self jigging and easy to build. This construction gets you in the air quicker and makes you the "superior builder" you want to be and keeps your project more affordable.
